Prom! April 19, 2008

Ashley's prom day started out with an orchestra contest. Solo and Ensemble is a contest which is judge indivdually. Ashley had a solo, Jesu, Joy of Man's Disiring, and a duet with her friend Jessica, Menuett and Buree. On her solo Ashley recieved a 2+ (B+, or how Ashley looked at it A-) and her duet she recieved a one, which in orchestra terms is an A! We were so proud of her!

After her competition we went and got her ring cleaned, went to see where the prom was going to be, went to Tonya's mom's house to see her new TV, and then FINALLY we went to go get Ashley's hair done. We went to Tinya, who has been styling Ashley's hair since she was little. As always, Tinya did an amazing job with her hair. And put about a gazillion bobby pins in Ashley's hair oh joy!

It's crazy how fast time flies by. She had such a fun time! The girls all got over at Tonya's sister's house and their dates met them there. Ashley's date looked very nice in his tux and brought Ashley a beautiful corsage.

They all went to supper at Olive Garden for supper, where they met up with two of Ashley's other two friends, Jessica and Breanna. After supper Tonya took Ashley, Ricky, Jasmine, Josh, Jasmine, Jordan to the dance. There they, or so we're told, danced the whole night.

Ashley's friend Kevin won Prom Prince. She was very excited for him, since she was one of his biggest campaigners! Everyone had such a great time last night and none of them can wait till next year... oh boy senior prom!

Friends

Brendan & Niki_______________ Christopher, Brendan and Brandon

Brendan and Dale

Brendan met his friend Niki this year and have been inseperable since then. Brendan met his friend Christopher at A Child's Touch where he did Kindergarten. Brandon and Brendan have been BFF's since pre-school, always referring to each other as "Brendan Latimer" and "Brandon Dilley" (even though it was really Gilley, Brendan just couldn't seem to say it correctly). Brendan and his friend Dale have been buddies since the first grade and have been noted to get a little rambunctious at times.

Adrianna, Jasmine V., Jasmine F, & Ash

Jasmine, Jasmine, Ashley, & Adrianna

Ashley and Adrianna have been friends since Ashley's freshman year of High School. These two are the funniest girls when they are together, and we are very glad that Adrianna and Ashley are together.
Jasmine V. and Ashley have been friends since last year, they have become much more closer since Jasmine joined Ashley's class. Jasmine F. and Ashley have been friends since freshman year also. Although these two are polar oppisites they seem to get along quite well. Thank God for friends!

Brendan is becoming the new DaVinci!

Brendan recently had a piece of his art accepted into his school district's art show. We are very proud of him. He is very excited to have his masterpiece displayed amongst others. His piece of art is titled "Above and Below". Unfortunately he didn't place first, second, or third, but he'll always be first in our eyes!

San Fran

April 5th through the 6th, Darrin and Tonya visited San Fransisco for the weekend, courtesy of Darrin's work. It was a good chance to get away from the kids and have some fun! :) While there they visited Pier 39, USS Jeramiah O'Brien, and the cable cars. Here's some pictures from their trip... ENJOY!

Grandma's Birthday! April 12th, 2008

Today we went to Cracker Barrel to celebrate Grandma's (Tonya's mom) birthday.

She turned fifty eight, and we all enjoyed an old style country breakfast!

Brendan as of April 11th, 2008

Brendan is finishing up third grade. He has proven himself as a very, very, accurate speller and is doing very well in school. Brendan enjoys what any normal eight year old boy may enjoy, Rockband, Guitar Hero, really any other game that is available, skating, and taking weird pictures like this one. Brendan recently had an art piece of his accepted into his and Ashley's school district's art show. We're hoping that he will recieve an award or have his picture added into the calendar that goes out to every family in the district. Either way we all find it cool that his art is in the show.

Ashley as of April 11th, 2008

Ashley is a junior in high school, wow how times fly! It seems like yesterday when she was running around in her aunts skirts pretending they were dresses. She's getting ready for prom, and is very excited about it. Since being in high school Ashley has found a love in journalism, politics, and volunteering. Many would, and do say, that she isn't a "normal" teenager, but we all know that she does have her "normal teenager" moments. She has interned at the campaign office for Bill Ritter, and went on to intern in his press office at the State Capitol. Bill Ritter is our governor. When she left her internship at the State Capitol, she ended up getting a recommendation letter from the governor, what a great accomplishment!!! She was very excited. She has taken four college classes this year so far; Journalism (she got an A), English 121 (she recieved another A), and she is currently taking Spanish and Anthropology. Ashley is still playing the violin, who thought that seven years later the little nine-year-old girl making all of the screeching noises on that instrument would be in the advanced orchestra and even lettering in orchestra?! We are all very proud of her!
